a great remaster of one of my favorite games of all time (a game that's better than nier: automata, btw!). i was worried about the new content, but it all fits fairly well even if some of it does feel somewhat superfluous. it's not like the game is super long anyway though, so i'm alright with some new content even if it isn't 100% crucial. i do like the new ending, i think it's great how it explores the implications of ending D. makes me want to read grimoire nier and see what else it has to offer.
i'd like to say that it's a linear improvement over the original game, but sadly the soundtrack is a bit of a downgrade. some of the tracks are still just as good, some are even better, but some are worse and one of the main themes of the game (song of the ancients - fate) is totally butchered . hard not to see that as a disappointment, especially considering the soundtrack is such a key factor of the experience. it isn't enough for me to think that it's a bad remaster, but i wish they would've left it untouched
