as exciting as the prospect of a demon's souls remake was to me, i was a bit worried because i didn't like a lot of the visual changes that were shown pre-release. the atmosphere and art design is crucial to the experience of demon's souls, and i'd hate to see it stripped away. once i got my hands on the remake though, it's really not something that bothered me at all. when you're playing the game, it's still as atmospheric as ever. it's still demon's souls and it's badass.

being that it's basically identical to the original game mechanically, i don't really have anything new to add regarding the experience. even though it's built on the base of a game from 2009, it still holds up. even the original holds up, it just feels clunkier than it is because it runs at like 20 fps on the PS3. the remake performs immaculately, which means one of the biggest problems of the original game is a total non-issue in the remake.

in conclusion, it's a great remake of a great game. i have it and the original on equal footing. i'd say that if you're a dedicated fromsoft fan, it's still worth playing the original. but the remake is absolutely more than worthy of its name.
