i've played the original RE4 upwards of 100 times across multiple platforms. hour for hour, that's one of the games i've played the most. i know every inch of it by heart at this point. so when the remake was announced, i found it hard to get too excited, not because i was worried they'd ruin it or anything, but because i couldn't really get hyped for something that's already been so burned into my mind. and while it's still faithful, it knows just when to switch it up. just when i thought i already knew what was happening next, they found the right way to pull the rug out from under me. and it's those moments that stuck with me the most. overall, it left me satisfied.
