Other M is a frustrating experience at every turn: a game with frustrating controls that never quite mesh with its combat and a baffling approach to the Metroid series' usual sense of progression. Still, it has pieces that, with the right people knitting them together, could have been brilliant — but instead it saddles what could have been the series' most interesting setting and its gauntlet of horrors with terrible writing, wooden dialogue and voice acting, and an approach to its female characters that makes it clear the only M its title should stand for is misogyny.
