Although Dark Souls III doesn't return to the winding Metroid-like world design of the first half of Dark Souls I, the strength of From Software's level design is still as compelling as ever. This by far is the series' most consistent entry (until I play Bloodborne, probably).

The increased speed of combat and addition of weapon arts allow for more player expression. Dozens of streamlined quality of life features (i.e. weapon and estus upgrades) are all very welcome.

I thoroughly enjoyed this game. While it never reaches the astounding heights of Dark Souls I, it gets close, then never falters.
