Bio
I am a fiend. I like to play video games. My standards are low and my perspective is highly warped. Don't trust me, I am a garbage enjoyer.

Psychotic Senran Kagura enthusiast. Actual character-altering events that have shaped who I am are tied to the stupid booby ninja game.

I've played a couple hundred hours of this game on Steam and it's cool. That said, it feels like you need pretty specific team comps in the late game otherwise your party will just explode into giblets at the slightest touch from a boss.

Also this game's combat is highly wack sometimes. If you play a spell-focused class you'll wind up with several minutes of logs the game needs to parse through simply for casting a single spell. Like, the way it's set up is usually such that you'll cast a spell at the start of combat, which will trigger a bunch of other spells, which will trigger other stuff, so on and so forth, but it takes SO LONG for all those spells to parse that I wound up changing classes because I was spending more time waiting for combat logs to finish than actually playing the game in any meaningful capacity. And that's with all the combat speed settings at max. Bare minimum, at least one hour of my playtime must be dedicated to waiting for logs to finish so I can press the next button and do it all again.

Actual psychotic game design for crazy people (me)

Played this game on vanilla PS4. Ran like dogwater, but I'm convinced that's part of the charm. I had a lot of fun with this one. Something about the game hitting sub 20 FPS whenever anything cool happened actually grew on me pretty fast. I think there's an epilogue/epilogue DLC but I never did it. From what I've read, apparently earlier games had more actual gameplay? That is, actual gameplay mechanics that you interfaced with. It makes sense considering this game is like, the most glorified walking simulator I have ever played. But as a compliment.

I'll probably try the earlier games when I can. (also hey did you know that the hit (lmao) shoot-em-up R-Type Final II (and maybe the original?????) features a homage to the franchise in the form of a ship called the 'Disaster Report'? It's an awful ship, it actually sucks. You should play both that game and this one.)

Not really a review or anything but I've played a lot of this game. Like, more than would make any amount of sense. I'm kind of squeezing blood from stone at this point. Don't have an exact time, but it's at least 400 hours. Got all the DLC, will probably repurchase the updated rerelease on PS5 when I get around to it.

This was the game that opened my third eye and activated my shmup neuron. I'm still strongly convinced that shmups as a genre are almost exclusively for boomers, but maybe being a boomer is cool sometimes.

but yeah it's ok, needs less grinding i guess (play this game please i can't convince my friends to try it)
