i don’t really loooove the alignment reps here, a lot of people say it’s their favorite reps in the series.
these are characters who are, motive-wise, very interesting perspectives for the narrative but also they kind of do fucking nothing.
they stick to your side for essentially the entire pre-alignment lock and act as a little angel and devil on your shoulder to react to every situation.
I can’t say i prefer something like nocturne on the complete opposite end of the spectrum, where it’s all entirely developed in the background, but i would kind of like to see my friends develop views from external experiences and disembark from my side in order to make decisions themselves (smt 1 bias but i still thing it builds its reps really well).
however my actual justified complaint with this game is it’s application of alignment mechanically, it’s a headache. i know this is what everyone says but yes it is possible to be too neutral for the neutral route in this game.
also the other common complaint smirking is genuinely such a bad mechanic and the tokyo overworld design in this game is a mess
but I will be honest this is probably some of the most fun you can have with an smt game in terms of party building and combat, and i won’t dig on the story either, it’s a very good take on the mainline games. a lot of the tokyo figureheads are cool and voice acting really sells it. very much recommend this game, especially as an entry point
