One of the most entertaining works in any fictional media ever. Resident Evil 4 Remake is a genuinely pitch perfect game that delivered on all fronts. It spectacularly presents its title with a simple story yet strong characters, beautiful score & sound, dozens of brilliantly designed set pieces, and possibly my favorite combat system in any game ever.

Surprisingly, I found that playing RE2 before diving into this masterpiece sort of enhances the overall experience. Not only would you feel closer to Leon and witness firsthand the transformation of his character, you surprisingly would also grow to appreciate the combat system even more. One of the reasons I love it so much was due to how refreshing it felt to experience the freedom of this combat system after being stuck for hours with RE2's restrained one (both systems fit its respective game very well and this is by no means a disrespect to RE2’s version). Once I discover that you could buy weapons, parry, and FUCKIN roundhouse kick with Leon, I knew that RE4 would be one of the most fun game I’ve played in a while. Perfect combat system, and insanely good level designs & boss fights too.

Resident Evil 4 also consists of many interesting characters who together formed a brilliant cast. Each one is equipped with an entertaining personality that clashes well with each other, creating many wonderful dynamics that drive the story so, so well. Everyone got their moment to shine in the story and each one was unforgettable. Even if some of them may appear to lack depth from the cutscenes that were given, RE4 actually compensates through notes & journals that you could discover throughout the world. These hidden writings delve deeper into the characters, introducing backstories that give more clarity on their current personalities & motivations (this apply mostly to the villains & Luis). This is also another thing that I love about the game, which is its expansive world & lore and the opportunity to explore it on our own.

Definitely one of my favorite games ever and I am absolutely in love with the RE franchise right now.
