Very inspired remake of Metroid. It was a joy to see the 37 year old game world I traipsed through yesterday redone in this 19 year old game.

While Fusion has a lot of originality taht I have come to appreciate a bit more after sitting on it (only a few days I know), I found myself more impressed with Zero Mission's presentation, particularly in the final section.

I could have gone without the direction given by the statues, but I found that the problem solving and exploration was present enough to mostly offset the annoyance. (And it didn't feel as bad as Fusions Navigation rooms, though the story significance of them and the structure they brought wasn't all bad)

Samus feels great to control, eveything is snappy (especially compared to the original) and the juxtaposition of flying through Metroid 1 with updated mechanics is satisfying.

There are some great puzzles for getting resources, including some great shinespark puzzles

I really can't overstate how the final section of the game elevates the experience, it mechanically and thematically embodies remaking the first metroid, and its execution is neat (I mean neat in a very strong sense).

Yeah so, I guess I'll play Samus Returns at some point? Stay Tuned?
(And Prime 2 and 3, and maybe after a few drinks Other M)
