I suspect detractors think it's too long and brutal, and I wouldn't blame anyone for struggling to get all the way through it; but despite sharing those exact feelings frequently throughout, I think it's a masterpiece and an essential experience.
I really loved how playing through the shifting perspectives let me feel the emotions of each side in a way that I couldn’t experience if I’d just passively witnessed it in a book or movie. Rationally, I knew revenge from either protagonist would be hollow and self-destructive, but a less rational part of me didn’t care in the moment and still wanted to multiply the tragedy further.
