i assumed that a genre that essentially provides the player with a first person theme park ride (where a large part of that is spectacle/how cool you can make your set pieces) inherently relies too much on technological capabilites. however, the worldbuilding here is so strong from the start that it still holds up. the characters are all very one note but that isn't necessarily a bad thing (think back to the future: one note characters but still memorable). the gunplay is decent but not great. the revolver and shotgun are nice to use but the fully auto guns don't feel amazing. the level design is a little bit questionable at times. the water boat and car sections especially. also the times where you had people or bugs follow you could have been done without imo. the puzzles are all very simple. wasn't a huge fan of the times it took control out of your hands to have characters discuss something for what felt like forever. a lot of heart here though and it kept me engaged the whole way.

also the prison tower defense stuff kinda blowed. the best part of the game was the beginning where you had to escape the town through the resistance's underground network. very dope. also the ascent through the citadel was cool.
