I have such a love/hate relationship with this game right now. It's a really fun game at times but also really jank at times and has a lot of flaws.
In terms of core gameplay, at its high points, this is the most fun Sonic has been at least since the Gamecube, and possibly ever.
The platforming challenges to earn tokens in the overworld were really fun. Combat was actually pretty unique, although it did get repetitive during the end. The finds against the Guardians (mini-bosses scattered around the world) represented some of the highest and lowest points of the game. The actual Sonic Levels were mid and often ruined by jank. The giant Titan fights were really cool but also not very fun to play.
I wanted to give this a 4.5 bc of how fun it was at time, but bc of the jankness of this game I can't give it higher than a 4.0
