Maybe starting the series with this game wasn't the best of ideas.

The conversations through the TV about Miike were how I felt all the time: like arriving late to a party, where all the jokes have been said and you're the new one standing in the corner, watching from a distance.

Stages are repetitive and combat is quite nice, but nothing truly exiting. The in-betweens end up dragging the whole thing.

It wasn't very funny either. Suda loves the stuff he loves, but passion alone doesn't get me through the references and constant calling attention to the 4th-wall-breakings. The meta thing gets pretty wild in many instances, a whole level being 40 references to movies, old videogames, animes and TV shows. What made me chuckle was certainly the chair game with the animators of Pop Team Epic, and the Rocky 3 bromance in the beaches of Normandy.

No sé, El Chocu lo hizo mejor.
