Okay, NOW I see what all the hype around burnout is about. This game is awesome. Pretty much every mechanic is designed around making you right on the brink of crashing into something and not only does it work for an excellent sense of risk v reward but also makes every race absolutely thrilling. Racing against traffic builds meter. Grazing past other cars builds meter. Using a full meter without letting go of the boost causes you to earn another full bar of meter, essentially giving you infinite speed so long as you live on the edge and never let go of the gas. The car crashes are also drastically improved upon from the first game and provide a fun spectacle to see even if it does cost time. There's just no unsatisfying result to driving fast, you either feel like a legend weaving through insanely fast traffic or you smash into something and see the carnage that ensues. Absolute banger of a racing game. I've heard that burnout 3 is even crazier?????? How is that even going to be possible????
