the world ends with you is refreshing in its depiction of modern teen life. the characters can be silly and unlikable at times, yet they all grow and really learn how to live in the company of other people in a consumerist society which raises you to be separate. if i played this game at 14 i would've grown up quicker. i played this game at age 20 during the summer and early fall of 2019. think the combat system is nuts? (it is.) imagine playing this game while walking to work. i finished it while on a bus from springfield to amherst returning from new york on the strange 3day weekend when i decided to do a tour on only my bike and buses and trains. i remembered that all my friends, in western mass, in hartford, in new haven, in bridgeport, in new york, all still cared about me. neku was learning for the first time that people could care about him. me and him chilled in an empty park in the part of hartford that's all mechanics and jamaican restaurants while a cold autumn rain was beginning. great game.
