Pros: The music, great chiptunes by Hip Tanaka here. I especially loved the credits theme, it's so joyful! The game itself is a bit slippery, but it's unique, there's not another 2D Mario like it, and the dinky sprites have a charm to them. I especially enjoyed the horizontal shooter segments with the submarine and biplane. The level archetype variety, and enemy variety along with them, was also very refreshing.

Cons: The platforming mechanics are too slippery, too heavy, and with how dinky the sprites are, it can be hard to see and distinguish everything apart.

What it means to me: I enjoyed this game, and it was short enough to where I could beat it from a young age. Nothing too impressive, but it does leave a lasting impression, one that I actually enjoy more than its more traditional sequel.
