I played this on the base PS4 and I have to say, overall I liked this game. Easily the highlight of this game are the mechanics that are present. From web swinging to the in-depth combat system, this game will make you not want to stop playing for a while. The main problem is, when it comes to story, sometimes it just doesn't let you play. The game's story itself is nothing spectacular, but combined with tedious similar mission style and boring stealth sections, playing through the story sometimes feels like nothing but a chore. On top of that, with the exception of a few side-missions, the extra content packed along with the game is nothing to write home about to say the least. Apart from challenges, all you'll find is a sea of copy and paste missions and boring objectives that don't feel connected to any part of the game whatsoever. I never thought I would play a game where spiderman is trying to regulate the water pressure in New York City so a manhole doesn't overflow, but here I am writing this review. Overall, a great game with fantastic combat and exemplary movement that is bogged down by unnecessarily lazy side content and boring gameplay sections.

While Splitgate has all the good makings of a fun addicting FPS (and it definitely is in some cases), the game's initial magic eventually wares off and you quickly lose incentive to play. Along with this, despite having the portal gimmick it doesn't really have much to set it apart from a normal halo multiplayer or some other FPS. I would recommend this game for some fun with friends, but be weary about your enjoyment's longevity.
