I really enjoyed this game. I never played the original so I am unfortunately clueless to it's problems that the HD remaster resolved. The art style is some of my favorite in the Zelda franchise and I really liked Link's connection with Zelda throughout the game. Ghirahim was an exceptional villain, I really liked his crazy ass. The music was also good as well. The gameplay was fun and I didn't really care much for the backtracking as most people seem to criticize about this game. I found it interesting going back to each area and seeing new portions or experiencing different situations each time. (That said, this game takes the rule of 3 to a serious degree, lol.) I do wish there was a way to fast travel between bird statues on the surface without having to return to the sky every time, even though I purchased the amiibo. (Funnily enough, the amiibo was the driving reason why I wanted this game.) The sky was sadly rather devoid and traveling it was a bit of a slog. Skyloft however is really interesting and it feels like a home. My biggest complaint with this game though has to be Demise. The boss fight was so short that when I beat him I went "Ok phase 2 down, time for phase 3." and then the fight was over. The game isn't very hard but there is a Hero Mode so that should provide an additional challenge. I mostly played with button controls and had no qualms with it but I would occasionally switch to motion controls and had no problems with that either. I do recommend this is you want a solid traditional Zelda experience.
