Some questionable plot twists and slight graphical hitches aside, Metroid Dread is an excellent addition to the 2D Metroid series.

The control scheme that caused my hand to cramp on multiple occasions on the 3DS works so much better on the Switch, the boss fights are spectacular and challenging, the EMMI sections give full reward to the 'Dread' title, and Samus just whips ass.

The plot may leave your head frazzled if you've never played a Metroid game, but the minute-to-minute gameplay will more than makeup for it.
