I appreciate this mod for not trying to be "accurate" (as in, it's attempts to be accurate is like trying to piece a puzzle with missing parts) like most other beta themed mods I've played, but instead doing it's own thing by using a lot of beta elements and fitting them into a retelling of Half-Life 2's story. I look forward to the full release.
I read a few negative reviews and I don't see how anyone could get stuck on these puzzles. All of them have the difficulty of the mid-game chambers and the new mechanics are really easy to grasp.
I will say the story is kinda lacking in anything new and, in-fact, it's really similar to Portal 2's story. The only differences is that story bits from Portal 2's story are shortened/combined or cut out, the circumstances are different, and the characters aren't that interesting (to me at least). The ending is also really uneventful and feels rushed.
But honestly that's something I kinda expect with big scaled mods like this. It's a mod, not a official game. I don't blame them for not writing the most perfect story ever and I don't think most give too much of a shit anyway. It's more Portal 2 with new stuff, what more do you really need?
