Super disappointing, it almost gets close to being good but always falls flat on its face. Great shooting and great enemy AI, absolutely dogshit encounter designs, awful enemy placement. Great characters and some genuinely great scenes between them but a god awful story that is repetitive and unfinished. When your campaign is about retaking the ring, and every open world activity is also retaking the ring it diminishes the value of doing anything in the campaign, especially with how repetitive the campaign activities are. A really interesting moment between Chief and the Weapon where trust issues come to the forefront but it gets resolved immediately, there's no tension, no satisfaction from seeing that play out. The game feels like a prototype, the basis for making a game that could genuinely be great. But it's not that game.
