An action adventure platformer with a great story and good platforming elements. I've played through Psychonauts twice now. Once on release way back when and recently on my gaming channel in preparation for Psychonauts 2.
Overall, the story and the writing is the major highlight here. The crew at Double Fine always find a way to make me laugh. Mechanically, the game is better than most platformers of its era, but never quite reaches the tightness of a Mario game. That said, the different abilities you get during the course of the game help mix up the gameplay in interesting ways. Considering how low the game is priced and amount of fun you can get out of it, I'd say every platformer fan should give this one a shot.
