A solid entry to this juggernaut of a franchise that takes some minor risks with some creative ideas but doesn't quite commit to them to the extent you would like to see. A passable story with a handful of mildly interesting characters, thrust into a world of cold war black ops missions that are hit or miss; some missions are excellent while others are the rote standard fare you've seen a dozen times. It's a step backwards from the fantastic franchise reboot of Modern Warfare (2016), but it's a quality entry worth playing through for fans of the series. If nothing else, it might make you want to replay MW (2016) again.
