Seeing as the only other FE game I've played is 3 Houses, I'll be making comparisons to this quite often.

First the things I liked:

1. The combat was straight forward. I felt it was maybe even a little bit easier than 3 Houses in that regard.

2. The story was also more linear which I thought was very much needed. Where 3 houses suffered from having to retread 20+ hours of the same gameplay over and over again to get to the new and interesting bits, this one didn't feel like it had as much filler.

3. A good portion of the characters were enjoyable. Some of them had compelling arcs, interesting designs, or quirks that made me laugh or smile at certain parts.

4. I really liked how you could explore the maps and talk to your party as well as adopt animals or talk to villagers. It made the game feel far more alive.

Now the bad:

1. The game throws so many characters at you that it obsoletes other ones too soon. It makes less sense to use them in battle, and as they fall behind it makes it harder for them to catch up and for you to see their supports. This was an area where 3 Houses shined as it was a bit easier to get supports for most everyone you wanted to. Due to this, I didn't feel as deep of a connection to the characters. There were certain ones I really enjoyed but it begs the question if I would have enjoyed others had they not been made useless so early on.

2. I got tired of hearing "Divine Dragon" for what feels like every 10 seconds. I get that 3 Houses said "Professor" a lot but that felt a lot less grating. I got used to it at a point but in the beginning of the game it was exhausting to hear it.

3. The story was a bit predictable. I had guessed a certain thing would happen as soon as one of the earlier chapters, and I was correct towards the end of the game.

Overall: I enjoyed this game very much. I felt like there were some areas that could have been improved upon but I never felt like it was dragging.

I rate this an 85/100
