{Replay} So I haven't been able to find my Gamecube copy of Luigi’s Mansion for a little while now and felt the urge to replay so I’d figured I try out the 3DS Remake. To start off, the original Luigi’s Mansion is like a 9/10 for me, it’s pretty awesome and there isn't really another game quite like it that I have played. It’s also home to my number 1 favorite video game ending ever. That said, this is a neat, but definitely inferior remake. Grezo typically does a good job (Ocarina 3D and Majora’s Mask 3D being there best probably). It’s just cool to see Luigi’s Mansion running on a 3DS, at a glance it looks identical to the Gamecube version. And it’s also cool that they were able to live out the vision of the original game being in 3D. But the controls of the 3DS are just not that great for this type of game. And I think alot of the replaced models for Luigi, Mario and the boos especially loose alot of the original’s strange personality. This can be especially felt in the ending for me. As I said earlier, the ending is my favorite of all time, I actually cry everytime I see it for some reason. But I didn't really feel much of anything with this new one, and I think thats largely due to the new character models and I think they might have even sped it up a little? Luigi also doesn't really shiver and shake while he’s laugh/crying. I know this sounds like a ridiculous nitpick, but thats always one of the first things I think of when I think of this game, it was just so weirdly realistic and human, especially for a mario game (plus the staff credit music is the best). Overall, its neat that this port exists, but I don't see myself ever replaying this version, I’ll just stick with the Gamecube.
