Dread is pretty cool but it's unobtrusive to the point of becoming forgettable. The boss fights and story set pieces are really exciting but everything else flows so smoothly from one location to the next that I cannot remember much of it.

I found the movement to be fun but wasn't really challenged on it at any point, and even the optional secrets were pretty easy to spot and collect for 100% completion. I'm assuming a lot of the game was designed with speedrunning in mind to the detriment of your first play-through, which isn't outright bad but falls flat for someone who doesn't care to replay the game.

The controls didn't do it for me either, as compared to older titles. The button layout is very spread out to be easily accessible at all time, at the cost of being a little hard on the hands.

I see what people enjoy in this one but it isn't the direction I would have liked for it.
