The Ace Attorney series is another series close to my heart, and this first game is my personal favourite.
Not only is solving cases super fun, but the story and storytelling are amazing and exactly what I want out of a visual novel. The characterisation is on point - you have Phoenix, your sarcastic, silly and relatable protagonist; Maya - the best sidekick you could ask for, the game not only makes you care for her but she's also fun, badass, hilarious and the true MVP of this game; Gumshoe - who's loyalty to Edgeworth while also being a huge softie makes him the most loveable detective of all time; and finally, Edgeworth - one of the best-written characters I've had the joy of experiencing, without spoiling anything.
The main characters are the stars of the show and are what make this game so fantastic, but I have to give credit to the other side characters you encounter on each case, who are all ridiculous and simultaneously amazing. They make the Steel Samurai case, which for me is the slowest part of the game, one of the most memorable in the entire series.
The soundtrack is also fantastic. Admittedly some of the investigation themes in this entry get a bit repetitive for me - but the court tracks are so good, with the iconic cornered theme being my favourite.
NOTHING is more satisfying than everything clicking in your head, realising who the murderer was, presenting the correct evidence and hearing that glorious theme play.
