ive seen this game constantly be considered the "worst in the series" and was highly advised to skip it from others, but honestly i didn't like DMC 1 all that much either and that game is loved by most. so i thought to myself, how bad could it be? and boy did i not realize what i was getting myself into.

the narrative is somehow more barebones than the first game, like by the end of it i couldn't even tell you what happened. there's maybe 3-4 cutscenes worth of dialogue but they're so vapid and lifeless, they might as well have not been in the game at all. the gameplay is practically the same as the first game with nothing new or interesting added to it.

the boss and enemy a.i. are non-existent. you can walk past all the enemies and they won't do a damn thing to you. the bosses fight are piss easy its not even funny. in fact I can't even say they're easy. they don't do anything to you at all! just hide in a corner and shoot at them with your guns. or better yet, activate devil trigger and spam the attack button until its over. the worst part about it is they even reuse a boss from the first game. just shameless.

the only """"good"""" thing i can say about this game is that the levels are now linear which is what i usually like but honestly is that even a compliment. i hear that the original creator had nothing to do with this games making and it shows

fun fact, this game was made in 4-6 months, and the original director of DMC 2 got fired, and replaced by Hideaki Itsuno, of Capcom vs SNK 2, who had to reorganize the project all by himself and make a sellable product in half a year. read up the development of this game, it's absolutely fascinating, and honestly it's a miracle the game doesn't straight up brick the console when you boot it up
