Dropped this months ago but can't work up the desire to install and play again, just a very drab cast with a story that failed to grab me in the 20+ hours i played. I liked Alphen + Shionne well enough and Dohalim had the most interesting set up out of the party from what i could remember but my god everyone else is as dull as dishwater. The only other Tales game i've played was Vesperia and i remember that having more entertaining character dynamics/writing even if the main plot is a bit of a nothing burger and that made me want to keep playing even if i didnt like the battle system too much.

Arise is the opposite in that it plays well and i had fun with the battle system but the writing made my eyes roll into the back of my head in boredom. Just. So. Fucking. DULLLL. I hate dull writing more than jank so i'll probably never come back to this and if i do it'll be after i beat all the other rpgs in my backlog.
