This is the result of pure laziness, no inspiration and backstabbing loyal fans to the franchise. This utter garbage has no reason to have sold 18 million copies. But it did. Simply because it says "Pokémon" on the box title, and no other reason.

Hmm I'd like to know why you think it is lazy or uninspired. There was a lot of attention to detail in a lot of ways, hidden dialogue, new twists on existing pokemon designs, interesting new pokemon, gigantamax adding new styles to existing pokemon. I found that the setting was interesting and new, and I really enjoy the camping/curry as well as the outfits and trainer cards. While yes it would be neat to have 800+ pokemon, Pokemon Red/Blue had 150 and catching all of them took a fair amount of time. On release for Sword/Shield there were 400 pokemon, with 81 new. Add 110 with the aisle of armor, and 74 new with the Crown Tundra. I think the game has really been responded to unfairly and frankly holds its own even against some previous Pokemon titles.
