this game destroyed the franchise for me.
without a doubt its the prettiest switch game out there and it looks stunning but i miss the old formula of big temples and the game being a lot more story focused. this seemed more like a try to bring zelda among the mainstream - which succeeded. sadly with this game my love for the series ends as nintendo does not seem to go back from here.

Imo that won’t be a problem until post-BotW Zelda vastly outnumbers pre-BotW Zelda.
If you only include the 3D Zeldas it’s 5:2 in favor of old, and if you include 2D games from ALttP onward, it becomes 13:2. Skyward Sword was also a very enough is enough moment for the team as you could feel everything that wasn’t a dungeon stretch for time.

i think if the next game is a botw-like game again then their suspicions are correct

@theexecutive the past games have had a much larger focus on story than botw so yes

BotW probably has about as much story material as the pre-TP games (and certainly more than something like MM or ALTTP)- the only difference is the nonlinearity. You could say that the nonlinearity is a bad direction for the story, and I'd agree, but to say this game has less story than the rest of the series is absurd
Majoras mask relies entirely on its main/side stories lol and mostly every past 3d zelda have a much larger focus on story..especially skyward sword. It definitely has less story than past games, there's a reason people say it does lol. I get it's your favorite zelda but theres clearly people who arent a fan of the big change.

Not really? Only games with a major story focus are TP and SS, for the rest of the games its kinda just there. Hell, BotW technically has the same amount of story (I’m just using cutscene length idk what other metric to use) than OoT, so I think the idea that a the scale of this story being new is incorrect
