I remember being too scared to play this one. This is probably my first "horror game." When I first encountered the Witch, I Alt+F4'd so fast and my friend DM'd me wondering what happened. LOL.
The cast of characters are so memorable, iconic voice performances. The gameplay loop makes replaying stages again and again so much fun. It was different than other "wave based survival" experiences on the market. It had campaigns spanning multiple stages, characters commenting on what they saw, how they felt. It required getting from "Point A to Point B" alive. All while managing resources and sticking together.
One of the ALL TIME GREATS for Co-op zombie shooters.
Unfortunately(?) there's no real reason to revisit this one as L4D2 has the entirety of L4D1's content in it. (mostly.)
Still, a huge leap forward for multiplayer co op and will go down in history as evergreen.
