The peak of the gameplay formula established from Yakuza 0 all the way through to Yakuza 6 (I’ll probably say this again for Lost Judgment)
Story is pretty good, although a lot longer than it needed to be. I love Yagami, definitely more than Kiryu and Ichiban. He’s still a bland, generic hero with no flaws like the others but he’s cool I fw his vibe a lot more.
Kamurocho and side content in RGG games in general haven’t been interesting to me since the new engine was introduced in Kiwami 2, the trend continues here. Kamurocho is dead boring, I walk around and do the same minigames I always do in the first 5 hours then sprint between main story missions for the rest.
The mortal wound mechanic sucks, I really hope it’s not back next game 👍🏽 music is solid, seeing this world from this perspective is way more interesting to me. The story told is much more gripping than anything we’ve had previously, even though I’ve become numb to the the Yakuza “plot twists”.
Basically, lots of great new characters, and a much better story, I’m excited to start Lost Judgment. RGG I (almost) forgive you for the stretch of ASS games leading up to this (excluding LAD and Kiwami)
