This was my first Kingdom Hearts game, years and years ago when they first announced the third one, which turned me onto the series in the first place. The Pixar characters were enough to get my attention, and the only modern console I had was the 3DS, so it all seemed pretty natural to pick it up. I couldn't have known 😅

The problems with this game's story are ones that the whole series suffers from, just too much required reading to have any inkling as to what's going on.

Fortunately, YEARS and YEARS later after on-and-off exposure to the story, with practice playing other games, seeing the tie-in movies and all that jazz, it's a rewarding enough experience.

I really like the dream guys, I like that it's a little less consequential, I like Sora's outfit, I like the story, and I love the gameplay, but it's very very very hard. I think I'm pretty good at video games but this one can get grindy and the bosses are completely nuts, often in unfair ways.

Regardless, yeah, I think I'd recommend dream drop distance, but specifically to people who have played other games in the series, and do yourselves a favour and play the remastered version on something other than a 3DS.

Definitely not the series' best bosses. Some definite cool ones, especially towards the end, but the early & mid game bosses I think are where the drop mechanic is at its worst.

What difficulty did you play on? Imo all the non-numbered games should be experienced on normal difficulty because, while I like the combat system in almost every game, the non-numbered games don't have complex enough systems to make overcoming tough fights feel rewarding.
