If you took this game and chopped it in half it would be way better for it.

My main complaint with the first remake is this series getting The Hobbit treatment and being split into 3 different games, something which honestly feels unnecessary to me. Other than that it was a solid game.

I had to discard that complaint to enjoy this game, and I did for the first 12 chapters. The side content is abundant and most of it is actually pretty fun, as well as rewarding which makes it worth doing. The story pacing and combat are solid as well.

The game completely grinds to a halt in the last two chapters (which you are locked in to btw, cant open world from here) which made me resurface my original complaint from the first game. Just felt like filler at that point and made the whole game feel overambitious and taking itself way too seriously.
