Firewatch looked like a game I could easily like. A mostly calming profession like forest firewatch, nature and timeless stylised graphics. Unfortunately, these elements are pushed to background with the mysterious atmosphere that dominates the story. It'd have been possible to connect more with the characters if its theme had been handled in a less mysterical story. It was uncomfortable that game always takes control and shows a small in-game cutscene during its core mechanics. The environments offer very beautiful views, but lack of weather changes and natural life makes it a bit underwhelming. Some say it supports the feeling of loneliness but being in constant communication with the other watcher and suspecting that there is someone else in the forest creates an atmosphere of tension, rather than loneliness. The things Firewatch did to get your attention caused me to lose it.
