Days gone playing this pure unfiltered garbage for 5 days.

This was so much more of a harrowing experience than I thought it would be. I struggle to understand how some deem this game to be misunderstood in any sense of the word when it's just abundantly clear how awful it is. From dialogue, voice acting, gameplay, bugs, it has everything that you could think of to make a game almost unplayable. Perhaps the saving grace is the navigation and some of the encounters.

I'll start by saying this, the voice acting is just extremely fucking horrendous and the overly corny dialogue does not help it's case coupled with the lackluster as fuck narrative with horrible pacing that makes 49 hours feel more like 200. The characters are incredibly generic and, save for Boozer, are all pieces of shits in their own way. Just all around assholes for some reason. Deacon is one of the most unlikable protagonists in general. Not only is he a complete asshole but his stupidity compensates for his "I don't care about anything" attitude. I don't like anything about this guy, he's just a dipshit.

The bugs are both hilarious and horrendous. There are SO MANY graphical bugs with textures going on, shit not even rendering in properly and clothing/environments just looking low poly as fuck. I think the biggest mistake here was a AA studio trying to make a massive AAA open-world game and just fumbling so hard before they even started.

The open world and it's activities suck. I think I had more fun clearing nests than I did fighting hordes, which are also extremely painful to go through. A lot of the time random world events would just collide together and I'd be dealing with 4 different things at once and then there's some of the worst frame drops ever in a game, worse than AC Unity. Some areas are just super laggy and I think most of this is to blame on the swarms/hordes.

Gunplay is fine, but so many times it felt like it wanted to be either The Last of Us or Metal Gear Solid V and failed at both assignments. It feels like the cheap, rip-off cousin of both of those games. There were some aspects I liked, though. Taking on marauders and the like can be fun at times but after a certain point it gets extremely bloated.

It's really just shit on top of shit on top of shit on top of shit and it's nearly impossible to find anything nice to say about this game because it's all just so miserable. There is so much more I could drag this game for, too much though, and that's the main problem. It's a mess and that is a shame, I feel like there could have been something pretty special here... maybe if the narrative was a bit better and the game wasn't so buggy, maybe then I'd be willing to give it the benefit of the doubt and maybe even the cancelled sequel could have remedied this pain, but we'll never know.

All I know is, keep Jeff Ross the fuck away from games.
