It took me about two pick ups to finally finish the game as the first time didn't really satisfy me that much. When I picked it up again I still had a bit of a negative feeling towards it, but as I spent time with the game and grew fond of the characters I began to really enjoy the experience.

This game mixes so many atmospheric themes together very well, and the world was immensely immersive. The things this game offered were things I always wanted in a fantasy genre typed video game, even the smaller things. This game has it's flaws, however. For example; I think the combat mechanics are a bit tedious, but you kinda grow into them after a while. The horse mechanics honestly really suck, for me at least, and sometimes the quest lines can be a bit of a bore/repetitive re-occurrence where someone constantly asks you for a million favours in return, and that can get agitating at times if you're trying to do a full day playthrough like I was at times.

However, the writing holds up for the most part and as do the characters. Although I will be admit this game is a tad bit overrated when people say it's an amazing game, I mean by no means is it a great game but I wouldn't go as far as to elevate it too high. I did feel a sense of emptiness upon completing it as I absolutely loved Ciri's character, the ending between Geralt and Ciri in the Inn and the final shot of that cutscene left me feeling a bit empty as the story had ended, and I'm glad I felt like this as I have a reason to pick up the DLCs, which I definitely will be doing to see the full ending of the story.

Overall, a pretty solid game and one of the better ones I have had the pleasure of playing in a while.
