among valve games this one has the most claustrophobic kind of gameplay where players can mostly shoot and soak tons of damage. guns sound good but hitting/shooting enemies feels disgusting it's a valve thing

2021

not perfect but this game's only real weakness is the bunch of fuseboxes hidden out of sight you have to look for and shoot to progress

bad things happen to an asshole protag, game plays itself

Devil daggers but good, just not my kind of thing, I'm not into infinite enemy waves

2016

I like the fuck you attitude of this doom slayer but that's all the game has

Catched up to what half life and ss2 did years before, enemies are so few it's never very exciting

unlock broken guns or don't
l welcome fps like this and ultrakill which are not boomer shooters and yet are still speedy as they trade a sense of strategy for a kind of combat that is snappier and stupidly aggressive compared to every other shooter out there
In that sense we are past some 90s fps revival
I think titanfall movement is the only thing people register about this but you never really need it, also development needs a direction

An action fps attempt, satirized all it could about shooters of that time and made combat something more meaningful and addictive to the protagonist than alcohol, the writing didn't work for me at any level. Pretty outdated, you are not going to see enemy behaviour comparable to those from devil may cry games in a fps before doom 2016, the kind of enemy bulletstorm makes fun of can only rush or shoot at regular intervals.

Guns sound good but shooting/hitting enemies feels awful, something all valve shooters share. as bad as the original
