A continuation of the series' essential core themes and dramatics, bolstered by brilliant character growth from its main cast and masterfully-layered plot machinations climaxing in the most brilliant of ways that only a Danganronpa game could. This is then, of course, severely and utterly marred by several issues in such spectacular fashion. Such issues include: a secondary cast ranging from useless to terrible alongside a tertiary cast that might as well not even be in the game no matter how much you like them; controls that are finicky and a camera that hates you; ridiculous variance in difficulty curve from the halfway point on; constant jarring art style shifts that are all individually fine but lack cohesion; constant fanservice ranging from cheekily supplanting its points to utterly undermining it such that even if you didn't mind it, you couldn't deny its net negative to the writing; Haiji; and terrible spacing out of save points, among many other issues. I'll always replay it whenever I go through the series, and I'll always wish it was a much better game than what we got.
