I'll be legit I don't even trust my own opinion on this game. Something so ambitious, intricate, surprisingly delicate, and open to so much player expression and fantasy in 1995 is frankly astonishing. If I had been alive back then, this probably would have knocked my socks off. Unfortunately, the passage of time has not been kind to Mechwarrior 2, its wacky control scheme, and its crit-and-heat-immune AI opponents. Ultimately hard to wrestle with since I'm so deep in my modern sensibilities, but this was probably pushing the envelope hard for back then, and I respect that.
