For the life of me, I will never understand why Animal Crossing is so appealing to me, yet I don't like Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley, or The Sims. Those all feel like work or chores to me, but in Animal Crossing you literally have to work for Tom Nook and do his chores. I don't get it!

Despite the cognitive dissonance, Animal Crossing is my happy place. I love Tom Nook, Resetti, K.K. Slider, Rover, Copper, Booker, Pelly, Kapp'n, Tortimer, and all the rest. But I'm couldn't tell you why anything in the gameplay is engaging. Maybe it's because it's an escape into a simpler, happier life. A life where villagers hate you and call you names!
