Persona 5 is my favorite game of all time. After 100 hours in Shibuya I still wanted to spend more time with the Phantom Thieves. This game is more time with the Phantom Thieves. I love the new locations, even if they are a bit sparse (and some models are just standing in awkward positions in cities, so it feels fake), I love being with my Phantom Thieves again, and I love the dungeons.

The combat just isn’t good. I played on difficult until the 6th dungeon when I switched to normal, only because I was ready to blow through and beat the game. It’s mindless and easy, even on the hardest difficulty. P5 changed how I thought about turn-based combat, so this just wasn’t it for me. I am interested in other Musuo games, particularly the DQ and Hyrule ones, but they seem distinct from this game. Adding a party member at the 5th dungeon was wack (Persona 5 also suffered from this!).

I wish the combat were better, and I wish there were more opportunities to make choices and just hang out, but this is still a good game as a Persona 5 fan. Maybe not a good one, but a game I enjoyed for the time I played.
