You're one of the few people who shared this complain with me. Torna is almost perfect besides the story-gating. :(

it's pretty sad yeah. the gameplay and story are notably better but forcing side quests, especially ones that are worse than the ones in the base game, is baffling. i was fine with the community level 2 one, but i dropped the game the second i saw i had to raise it to 4
