A fantastic game in which the story hold up to this day. It's a nice journey, but tough adventure where Ness and party get together to defeat the ultimate evil, Giygas. The JRPG elements have both unique and, unfortunately, annoying assets. The unique one is the sliding health bar and I like this addition. It gives you a chance to save your member, prevents the waste of items (if you have healing psi options available), and makes use of your reaction time. The annoying additions, however, are stuff like limited inventory space and the Dragon Quest influence of walking to a specific building to revive fainted party members. There's also the homesick ailment in which you need to talk to your mom through the phone to cure this, but when you're in a dungeon or somewhere far away this becomes a straight up inconvenience. I love you, Earthbound, but you have mechanics and little things that can make the game a bumpy playthrough.
