An incredible remake of my favorite game of all time. While I am unsure right now whether I think it is better than the original or not, it met and surpassed my expectations.

This is some of the best moment-to-moment gameplay the series has had so far. It is so fast, fluid, frantic, and just a blast to play. The redesigned world is superb and it was an interesting experience pointing out what changed, where some parts were shuffled around, and what sections Capcom decided to expand upon. I love the story of RE4 so thankfully it remains basically the same with a few noticeable changes. For example, the effects of the las plagas in Leon and Ashley has a much bigger focus now. As for the characters, they are all updated to match the new tone of the remake and they are still enjoyable and sometimes better than their original incarnation. Leon is still a silly goose with a lot of funny quips too.

Though it was disappointing to find some small sections were cut entirely (namely the gondola segment and the laser room). Some of the more goofy stuff from the original is also gone but I expected that with how the remakes from Capcom have been going so far so it does not bother me that much.

So I love this game a lot and heavily recommend it. However, I believe that experiencing the original Resident Evil 4 before the remake would be my recommendation to someone who hasn't played either. The remake is excellent but the original is such an iconic game and one of the best of all time so missing out on it would be a shame. But for the future of the series, I do hope Capcom slows down with the remakes for now because it is getting kind of lame to see half of the games that come for this series being old games but new. Bring back Resident Evil spin-offs!
