A frustrating game to play with zero tutorial, stiff control, obtuse puzzle and unaccommodating save point. A true pioneer that laid down the foundation for modern action adventure. It was perhaps too ahead of its time, that twenty years later, the golden formula of shooting, platforming and puzzle solving, accompanied by a strong cinematic direction and narrative focus, finally revealed its true potential. This is a fascinating piece of videogame history that is well worth experiencing, but you'd better have a guide in hand.

This game blew my mind as a kid. I was like 10 or so at the time.
It was so unlike anything else, with its combination of cinematic platforming, storytelling through in-game actions, 2D polygons for smooth animation, and its sci-fi "other world" theme. It hasn't aged great but I respect what it accomplished at the time.

come to a screen where I die -> don't know what I was supposed to do instead -> go way back to the checkpoint -> do it all over -> try something different -> die again -> repeat. One of the most frustrating games I've ever played.

A really fun, futuristic platform adventure, let down by some sluggish controls and annoying trial and error. I've always been a fan of the game, but previously had only ever played the Megadrive version. It was nice to play the Amiga one, although from what I remember, it is not too dissimilar.

I remember being astonished by the incredible graphics back in the early 90s, and to be fair, they still look great today. Although the controls are a bit clunky, the character movement still looks as good as ever, the little cut scenes are great, with one for nearly every type of death you encounter.

Some of the set pieces are a lot of fun, but some require pinpoint precision, which is a fucking pain when the controls are as cumbersome as they are.

I would've probably given up if I hadn't have been able to save scum my way through, but even then, I still enjoyed it and it was fun to see it through to the end. My 8 year old self would be jealous.

Shocking this game came out decades before the whole cinematic games craze modern gaming has and still holds up as a unique experience.

This game is HARD. I've beaten it exactly one time, and that was not without endless frustration. There are very few hints as to where to go and what to do, so a lot of it is trial-and-error gameplay. Despite that, however, it's an inventive experience with an interesting visual style and some neat world building as you traverse the alien planet. And if you want to put a positive spin on things, it challenges you to really consider your environment and think about solutions to problems that are not straightforward. It may be more difficult than it is good, but I appreciate what the game wanted to do.
