Snake and Eagle, two commandos of the Bloody Wolf special forces, receive instructions from their commander to destroy the enemy's heavily armed base to rescue the President and any allies who have been reported as MIA. Based off the 1988 arcade game, this single-player, top-down, run and gun shooter takes a nod to Contra-style gameplay, allowing one of the two mercenaries to blast their way through eight levels of enemy opposition armed with only a knife and a machine gun. Along the way, new weapons such as shotguns, bazookas, flash bombs and grenades grenades can be added to the arsenal, as well as health and defensive power-ups. Players can even find a motorcycle to ride in some areas, or swim through certain parts of a level. The President and your fellow soldiers need you!

The shooting is slow and feels like you're firing ping pong balls at the enemy. Also, it's stupid that you can't shoot while jumping in a game clearly designed with a second level in many of the stages. Issues with the gunplay aside, there's a pretty decent mix of varied stages and some perspective changes that put it above more repetitive shooters.

Top down shooter that adds a lot of content to the arcade version. Choose from the characters Snake or Eagle and fight your way through four levels to rescue the president, collecting grenades, flamethrowers, shotguns, and bazookas to use as main or secondary weapons on the way. Your knife is used at close range and for the boss fight and run with the president to your helicopter which is where the arcade version ends, in this version that is half the game. You are told that the helicopter is full with the president and prisoners you saved so your character stays behind and is captured. You then take control of the other playable character with the goal of saving the other character and remaining prisoners with new stage, bosses, and a funny ending where both character decide to take a vacation together and ignore their boss as he attempts to give them a mission to save the president again. Decent visuals, good music.

Dope music, and the motorcycle gameplay is hilarious. There is some undeniable charm and a couple solid fundamentals hidden amid the thicket of jank. Still—it just feels too cheap and thrown-together and wonky to truly like.

Good on the TG16 version for having ridiculously generous checkpoints and continues, otherwise I don’t think I would’ve cleared stage 1.


Campy, charming, and surprisingly novel in execution for an otherwise stock military shooter. There's a twist halfway through that feels a good half-decade ahead of its time.

Gunplay could be a lot better, mostly because of a totally fucked up collision system. It doesn't seem like there's a proper Z axis value for comparing collisions while in air, which leads to perspective-induced deaths from bullets scraping your head.

Even though some of the stages are annoying and some of the bosses are cheap, the cheesiness of the game along with it having infinite continues made it a quite enjoyable time. Music was hit or miss, though.

Recommended for people with 2 hours to kill who like shooting.

Bloody wolf is a game much like ikari warriors and stands out for its horrible localization the gameplay itself is surfaceable with some nice set pieces and tough bosses but the real highlights is bad localization lines also infinite continues and good checkpoints in these games is always great for my scrub ass
