The game is well made and a lot of fun, but there are MANY things that make me dislike it, which is sad as it's being done by Cryptic Studios after the fall of City of Heroes. I was a player on those servers and I felt betrayed by NCSoft and I once tried this game, but it wasn't the same and now coming back to it...it's still not the same.

My major gripes with the game are as follows:

- Story Arcs are uninteresting and I feel no depth when playing them. The beginning was interesting where you fight a simulated past where Aliens invaded and the heroes fought them off, but back in the city none of the other stories hit a cord with me at all. Fighting the purple gang can get very boring as they are simple mafia thug rip-offs like The Family from CoH.

- VERY limited power uses till later levels. When you start you end up with 3 powers you use over and over which works well when playing with a controller, however it means you're very limited in your abilities as you use weak attacks to build up stamina for better, bigger attacks, but you are still limited to only a few attacks.

- UI is pretty ugly IMO. The chat window is quite small and I often find people DON'T seem to use it. One irritating thing is when pressing F12 for a screen shot you highlight all the UIs to stretch and alter if you wish so you at-least have a option to modify it somehow.

- The paywall is disgusting. Where as with City of Heroes you can combine all kinds of powers to make your own hero, in this one if you go free you get a group of Archetypes to choose from (most locked away behind a paywall as well), but if you want to mix and match to make your own unique hero you either subscribe or buy a free-form slot which costs as much as a brand new game! Not only that, but the free-form only gives you access to the powers you have already unlocked so if you have not unlocked any other archetypes then that's even MORE money to go though.

Pros:

- I enjoy the animation style. It's a lot of fun at times and the travel powers work quite well too and you get them earlier on than CoH which helps a lot when going around the city.

- Costume customisation is one of the few things they did right that they took from City of Heroes and is almost limitless in it's customisation. Plus, if you unlock things like capes and so on, you can use on a new character which I like that they did this as a global unlock.

It's an ok game and if you want to play a super hero MMO, you could do worse. It doesn't fall into the trap of DC Online where you are more imitating a famous super hero than actually becoming one yourself. If you're like me and really miss CoH then I can't recognise this as it will only scratch the barest of that itch as the restrictions and uninteresting story-lines will get you bummed out. I'd instead suggest you wait for City of Titans or many other creations that are on their way.

no wonder kid me just kept on making new characters that was the only fun part

Just give us a proper super hero MMO already ffs

my rating is extremely biased as i grew up with this game
