DLC przypominające początki Destiny. Słabizna poza paroma widokami.

This one just makes me sad, so I’ll talk about a few positives first. Strand is the coolest subclass introduced yet, Calus is in it so that’s already a positive, and Neomuna as a location is rad. There is also the cutscenes between the Witness and Calus, especially the one where it gets angry, that also give the story some life. This is where all the positives stop.

The story is really mid, it feels rushed in almost every way. Nimbus and their new force of “guardians” all range from uninteresting to flat out annoying. The goal to reach the Veil before the Witness is never really explained at any capacity until a fucking seasonal mission 4 months later. Also the fact this is how Calus goes out is really depressing. It is a flop in the truest sense of the word and it doesn’t feel natural to the overall story at all.

Root of Nightmares is one of the most meh raids ever which is really bad considering how great the other raids are and how much Nezarec was built up. I especially hate Nezarec in the Pantheon version of the final encounter which is such a pain in the balls. I’ve also never seen the company go 0/3 on seasonal endgame content. The remastered Crota’s End, Ghost of the Deep and Warlord’s Ruin are so boring and feel like filler

I took a really long burnout break after this dropwd and was really uninspired to get TFS until they releases Into the Light and Pantheon, which gives this a half star on it’s own

Rating: C Tier

Awful, rushed slop. 80s aesthetic is overdone and ill fitting for the universe, but it gets an extra star for the Stand subclass being cool

Another whatever random story with no context because I don’t have seasonal content that got Disney Vaulted. Combat is fun, Strand is a neat new ability that makes the Warlock actually be able to navigate things properly. Final fight is fun. Nimbus is not hot enough.

Destiny 2 continues to have the worst new player experience of all time, and this is coming from someone who started playing Yu-Gi-Oh in 2022. I continue to play the expansions when they release on PS Plus in spite of that because its shooting and movement feel very good. Lightfall continues this trend with the new mechanic, strand. The movement options it adds are awesome and being able to trap your enemies with it is very satisfying.

Do not ask me about the plot of Lightfall. Because of how Bungie structures the game I have no idea what is happening. Apparently players who do follow what’s happening do not like this one. The final few missions of the campaign are pretty solid but I can see why dedicated players were disappointed. It feels very rushed overall and it ends abruptly.

Sony has conditioned me to wait for expansions to land on Plus instead of paying for a single purchase so I look forward to playing The Final Shape when it becomes part of my subscription. Maybe one day I will get lucky and Bungie will develop a new IP with a linear co-op campaign and dedicated PvP mode like Halo, since I miss that franchise’s glory days dearly.
